Help me find a rare setup.

Help me find a rare setup.
I am changing the gears in my 91 f150. My question is what door tag code do I need to look for to find 4.09 factory gears. I want the front gear/ removable carrier assembly (Dana 44 reverse rotation TTB) with 4.09 gears. I know this wasent a common option but any help is appreciated.
So what door tag axle code do I need to be on the lookout for for 4.09 or 4.10 gears?
Thanks in advance. -Mike

I frequently go to a junkyard near me that literally has thousands of ford trucks. I know theres some in there. I'm just not sure how to identify that setup in the truck.
Also I tried doing searches on FTE for what I was looking for and was unsucsesfull. So if anybody has good links please help.
Thanks -Mike

I have a F150 factory 4.09/4.10LS set up on my truck. It gives a lot of acceleration to the 5.0 in a 4350 pound truck.
Axle code 25 is for a open rear differential with the 4.09/4.10 combination and H5 is the axle code for a 4.09/4.10 limited slip rear differential.
The only thing wrong with this factory combination is that Ford never offered front limited slip differential with this axle ratio combination in this vintage pickup. Front factory limited slip was just offered with the 3.55 ratio--I believe.
Ford used a "2" after the rear axle code to signify that the truck had front limited slip differential. H92 axle code would mean that the truck has 3.55 ratio(H9) with limited slip in both front and rear differential.

Shaz. EVen detoit dosn't have a place like that!!!
Flint is 10x worse!
F-in motor city, and i can't get crap!
Up here by clair we havea 4x4 only junkyard thats kinda cool. But they are super expensive.
Other problem, here in mich, they salt the roads so much, it just kills your truck.
My poor baby is just rusting away. =*(

My viewpoint:
1. Good luck finding one...you would be extremely lucky. In the 5-6+ years I've been on this site this is the first user to come forward (that I've seen) saying they have a 4.09/4.10 factory gear in an F-150.
2. If you do happen to find one, it's probably not in that great of shape.
It's not that difficult to install a set of gears. I taught myself how to do it, and swapped the gears in my truck to 4.09/4.10 from 3.54/3.55s.
The time and efford you use in trying to find one could be used to teach yourself how to do it. And you'd have a fully rebuilt ready to go axle instead of a junkyard piece.
And you could put a different differential in it if you wanted (I went with an ARB).
Pros/cons to both but I think you'll be ending up doing it on your own vs finding one (they are very very rare).

Yeah--the 4.09/4.10 factory option is a rarity in a F150. My truck was special ordered and most trucks were optioned by the dealer . The 3.55 is a more general all around better ratio. But my truck was special ordered by trailer pulling--even though it is a short bed with manual transmission.
And the 4.10 really wakes up the 5.0 and gives it perceived torque at low engine speeds. The downside is that the truck with 4.10s is limited in top speed. My truck turns 2250 RPM @ 60 MPH with 235/75 x 15 tires. The 4.10s dont seem to hurt MPG though--still get around 20 MPG--even on winter gas!! And the throttle response is excellent in top gear--compariable to my 2001 GT Mustang. And it isnt necessary to downshift as much--the truck always seems to be at it's torque peak --even in overdrive at low speeds in the city.
Try www.car-part.com . I checked it and found two 4.10 axles for sale in the Pa area. Excellent site for finding used auto parts!! It is a nation wide listing of junk yards and it is possible to search for individual parts.
