Last week my 2005 F250 6.0 diesel quit starting when the engine was warm. I replaced the fuel filters and still have the same problem. When the engine cools off it starts fine.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Well - it went to the dealer, I told them what I thought the problem was but they wouldn't fix anything. No codes. They said to call them next time it strands me and they'll tow it in. I've can look forward to two more days of down time without my truck.
Well that sucks. So much for "service." I don't think a leaking HPOP fitting will throw a code. Did they attempt any starts with the engine at normal operating temp? If not, no wonder they couldn't diagnose the problem.
The tech said he warmed the engine up but couldn't repeat the problem and there were no codes. The dealership can't get reimbursed from Ford for the warranty repair unless there's a trouble code.
The strange thing is, that lately I have seen a couple with STC fitting leaks that did not set a code, even after I was able to duplicate the problem. They are supposed to set a code (P2291), but I'm wondering if it may be an unknown problem with one of the flash updates that have come out...
After three trips to the dealership and one tow, I convinced them to replace the quick connect as recommended in this thread - even though there was no DTC.
I've been driving it for a week and no further problems.

That's not true (although it is odd that it did not set code P2291). Had you brought your truck to me with that complaint on that year model truck, I would have proceeded to replace the STC fitting, and we would have submitted the claim like we have dozens of other times.
Anyway, I'm glad they finally decided to repair your truck. You shouldn't have anymore problems with that fitting.
