Question Found 2 JAG IFS have a Q

The first one is a 79xj6 does not run due to a fire. But it has been sitting for about 10 yrs. Would it still be good? Whole car $350

The second one is a 84 X16. IFS only $350 already out of car. Will this one work on my 50f1. Which one would be the better. Both are in Texas........................RUSTY

That depends if you have the room for the entire car. The rearend would sell for more than the $350! That gives you a free IFS.
Both cars should be the same IFS and both will work fine for a F!.

Jag IFS

I would think you need to ask about corrision under car. If it sat in a yard, the grass and weeds can rust the bottom quickly. I think someone said that 1986 was the last year for the series III. Newer is better if possible, some parts will be worn in what ever you buy. There are several articles on installing the front and the rear from the Jaguar XJ6. I have them on my computer's favorites list if you need them. Have a great day, chuck

I think you might need to replace the ball joints/bushings in most any IFS that is 20 + years old no matter what brand or at least check it out for wear before driving it much or having it aligned.

The one with the vented rotors.
If it's been sitting on wheels I'd take the whole car and install the IRS in your truck as well, you'll have a truck that rides and handles like a Jag!

Miles are a big factor as well, If the 79 does not have the vented rotors as well thats another negative, I don't know if a simple rotor upgrade will fix that or if the calipers.

After spending a day and a half getting the volare out and the remainder of the hulk disposed of I might think twice about the 6 year newer option.

If you want rear IRS I would definatle get the whole car.

Fortunately for us, unfortunately for the Jag owners not too many ended up accumulating many miles before being "retired".

Well I bought the 79 whole car. Going after it this weekend. Thinking about using the IFS and IRS as AX suggested. Will know more about it after I get It home and look at it. OH the Welder and Ezwire kit arrived today. I was somewhat overwhelmed when I opened the box of wires. Hope its not more than I can chew. RUSTY

The wiring is a lot more intidating looking like it came than it will actually be, just decide in advance what accessories you are going to be using right away, which in the near future and which not likely ever. remove the ones from the never list by rleasing the terminal with the wire attached as well as it's fuse from the panel box, roll them up and put them back in the box for "just in case". next stretch all the wires out in a big room and gather them up by where they go, a group that goes to the rear, a group that goes to the engine, a group that goes under the dash, a group that goes to the front. Roll up each group and temporarily tie them in a spool. Now decide how/where you want to mount the fuse block, and how you will route each bundle to it's proper position. Use rubber grommets any time you pass thru a hole in metal. Wire up one bundle at a time using plenty of hangers and organizers. Use a multiplug or individual pullapart connectors in any wire(s) that go to something you may want to remove later. If you break it down into small sections and don't get overwhelmed by thinking about the rest it will go quickly and easily.
