destroyed turbo during repair
So I had a oil leak in my turbo pedistal. after removing the turbo & pedistal I decited to replace the compressor wheel with a upgrade. well I inserted a screwdriver into the exaust side and removed the compressor wheel. Yep I bent the screwdriver and the exaust wheel. Can anyone point me to a shop that sells the exaust wheel.

its compleatly destroyed one of the fins looks like a 45 bullet hit it. the bad part is thats how Black cloud diesel shows to remove the compressor wheel. o'well lesson learned for next time. I don't blame BCD, I blame ford this the compressor was way over 100 inch lbs of torq. and ford was the last one working on it. Its the 4th turbo and 2nd pedistal, and 2nd trany rebuild.

While it is advisable to remove the turbo when replacing the compressor wheel, I had no pedestal leaks and didn't want any. I gently inserted a screwdriver heavily wrapped in 6 mil electrical tape and had no issues at all. It probably helped that the truck only had 20K mi. on it too. I also walked away when I got frustrated and fatigued.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad luck. Good part is, now you have a legitimate excuse to upgrade the whole unit. That was the BB Turbo God speaking. Show him you heard his message and upgrade. Do it now and don't look back. You'll be glad you did.
Don't be too hard on yourself. I know I've had my share of WTF was I thinking moves, and I'm absolutely certain I will again.

The way I look at it is even if I jack something up once in a while I'm still further ahead by turning my own wrench. Plus, I enjoy it and it keeps me away from some of my other other bad habits.
I almost bought an EX when I bought this truck. They had 0% for 60 months back then. I like the way the Excursions ride and drive.
I'd go for a new BB turbo if I was you. Its only money right? We can always make more.

I know that the smaller Garrett GT BB Turbos can be rebuilt professionally. The thing with BB Turbos that I like is that they have about 4X the thrust load capacity, but I do agree with you buying one that is totally rebuildable.
You should check into Turbonetics a lot of people have good things to say about them. There are several guys here at FTE that have a far deeper knowledge of turbos than I do. I've just dodged the bullet so far on needing a new one. My time will come too. The makers of the right products are always proud of their products and it shows in their prices.
