Hey Guys, Im in Michigan rite now but in June im moving Down to Indiana for college at Lincoln tech. Now i dont know what truck i will have but if i have a diesel do i have to get it smog tested? Il only be down there for 15 months. And also. Do i have to get Indiana Plates and insurance or can i keep my Michigan Tabs? Thanks
If you are just here for college then you will not need to change your tags or get any of the emissions testing. The state does not consider you a permanent resident as long as you are a full time student with ties to some other state.
Amazingly? You mean you can't figure out why the rule makers made rules that didn't apply to themselves? The real kicker is that Indianapolis was on the last top 10 air polution list.
IIRC Clark and Floyd improved their air quality so much that they were able to suspend testing. Since Lake and Porter are downwind of Chicago that will never happen here.
The emissions testing was not put on by the State. Good ol' federal EPA did that for us. Marion County is really close on the air quality, and I'm sure soon we'll see Marion plus the bordering counties go on the emissions testing program. Of course I've been saying that since 1990 and we're still just skating by without requiring testing.
