Interior light won't go off all the time...

My dome light won't turn off (when parked and engine off) for a long time (never sat there and timed it). Someone told me to disconnect and re-connect the battery cables and that would fix it (and it does temporarily), but does anyone know of a complete fix for this? Also, when this happens the dome light won't shut off when I'm driving until I get above 20 mph & then comes back on after I have slowed to below 10 mph. Any ideas?

Take a can of wd 40 & spray the lock on your doors. The dome light switch is located there & its sticking. I thought I needed a new switch for mine till I stopped by the dealer. One of the guys there sprayed mine & it hasn't stayed on since.

Thumbs up

Your door switch might be bad or dirty. There is a fix that you spray wd-40 in the door latches to clean them. If you do a search there has been a lot of this type of problem. I had to replace door switch on my taurus. Let us know how you make out.

I have cleaned mine with WD-40 and went back with PB Blaster. The WD-40 is a very good cleaner, but not very good as far as a lubricant. I use the PB Blaster as a lube for the moving parts. I only have to do my driver's door twice a year at the most, and my truck is used some on a farm. So it gets very dirty. But try that and keep us updated.

WD-40 is designed to displace water (WD = Water Displacement) designed to keep early missles from rusting.

To clarify, you spray it in the latching area on the door, spray it in every direction with the straw then slam the door a good 12 times. Do it to both doors and it shouldn't be a problem again.

The light will go off after 45 minutes with the truck off, you can also pull the fuse but it will kill your power windows as well.

Tried the WD-40 and it worked. Also you can remove the top left relay in the interior fuse panel. This will keep the dome light and cargo lights from coming on.
