AC clutch engagement
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Dec-02 AT 10:29 AM (EST)]Greetings~~
(2003 SC 5.4)
I'm beginning to notice in the mornings, a small pubble forming
on the ground right underneath the cab as my truck warms up
outside.
I switch it to "panel" (at the warmest setting on the thermostat) when I start up.
...My question is:
Is my AC compressor engaging at this setting and this is the condensed cab moisture purging? (like on a hot, humid day?)
Kinda puzzling. I really don't like the idea of my clutch working in
wintertime climates, I'm just a guy looking for some HEAT on
our chilly mornings!!
Thanks,
Dave

I've actually seen it dripping,...
It looks just like the typical AC drip on a humid Maryland July day.
I'm checking different settings as it gets colder.
On the wife's 97 Merc Villager, the AC kicks on if you set it on "warm/defrost"...hmmm

Is it me, or does my Dealer/Sales staff no VERY little
about the products they sell?
I know more about my truck than they do...
When I took delivery, I wanted to know where the fuel pump cutoff
switch was. They didn't have a clue.
(My own personal sales person had no idea what it even was)
He gets out the owners manual!!! duhhh
Q: Is this a full size spare underneath?
A: Gee, I really don't know.
Q: Why can't I disable the passenger side airbag?
A: Gee, I really don't know.
Q: Is this truck pre-drilled for the running boards?
A: Gee, I really don't know.
Q: Does this engine has 2 timing chains or one continuous one?
A: Gee, I really don't know.
Q: Do I really have to keep making the payments?????
A: Gee, I really don't know.
I had fun with my guy.... he was a hoot.
He didn't know what day it was.

The A/C clutch will operate in the Defrost and Floor/Defrost position. This is to pull the moisture out of the vehicle to eliminate the windows fogging.
