Son "smoked" his motor

MY son has a '73 F-100 with a {replacement} 400/C-6, and he done blew her up. He first "spun" the #5 rod bearing, did a "junkyard fix" and then spun 2 more. Did the junkyard fix twice again before something went BANG and it will not turn over.
Problem now is that he needs a motor on the cheap so he can go back to work. Any body got a "spare" they are willing to part with cheap?

Update Update Update!!!

Son just found a '73 "effie" for $375.
Comes with a sweet running 360, and less rust than my '82.
That's just wrong.

I just saw this thread. I have my 'old' 408 motor in the garage. I have a reground crank and new bearings, and some other goodies like a Weiand 4 barrel intake. The block was rebuilt less than 20,000 miles ago with +0.030 bore and flattop piston that give about 9.0:1 CR with stock heads. I don't have heads for it or I would rebuild it myself and sell it.

Do you still have the '73 F100 with the bad 400?
