Anyone running Nitto Mud Grapplers?

I have the chance to buy a brand new (non blem) set (4) of 35x12.5x17 Mud Grapplers for $800 bucks! That is a super deal but I have heard that these tires are way to soft for some one like me that drives hiway 90% of the time. Also can buy a set of Dick Cepek tires the same size for around $900. Any thoughts.

If you are driving highway, then the only reason you could want these is for looks, and sound. My buddy has 35x12.5x20 mud grapplers (we call them skeet grapplers), and he doesn't really off road his 06 KR 6.0. However i do ride with him sometimes, and those tires really sing (loudly) but it does sound good if you are in the mood for hearing the tires. They do wear really fast, that is the only problem.

im not a tire expert but have had to buy tires befor for this truck and trucks i have had in the past. I would say go with what everone you like more. for the deal you can get on the mud grapplers i don't see how you could go wrong. everytime i buy tires it seems to cost me 1000 to 2000 to 2500 depending on size and mounting and balancing. I really like the look of the mud grapplers better but have never seen the dick cepek m/t's in person so its hard to compare.

Here is what they look like. They semm to be fairly agressive but look to be smooth riding.

honestly i think both sets of tires are going to be loud. but if i was going to have to live with them on my truck i would go with the dick cepek's. i have also those nitto mudders are VERY loud. like Bogger loud.

Well, i dont know if it was just because it was saturday night and we were all in Hillbilly Deluxe mode, but those tires sang, and it sounded REALLY good. Like its 30* out but all 4 windows were down and we were flying down backroads listening to the tires.

I would not mind the sound, in fact it would be prefered or I would own a gas rig. I just do not want the tires to wear so fast that I am replacing them in 20k miles.

With a truck as heavy as ours you would be lucky to get 20k out of any mud tire. I didnt even get that many miles out of my BFG AT's.

Well that would be the only problem then. I would say if you rotated them every 3,000 miles or so, you could get maybe 25,000-30,000 miles. They are a soft compound for good traction in the... well.. MUD, snow, and for climbing. They do climb like crazy, that same guy climbed a hill that was bout 50* slope, in 2hi with the mud grapplers. he jumped a curb and went wide open up this hill, 4000 rpm or so he hit with his tuned 6.0. The spotter didnt realize that he was going to hit the guardrail at the top, and he jumped the crest of the hill and the TIRE sidewall actually bent the I beam corner in. He broke a few things, but the point is that the tires dug twin 3" ditches and threw mud on the parking lot back about 40'. I cant imagine what it would do in 4hi.

Oh another cool thing with these tires, when you turn tight on blacktop, the inner tire makes a suction cup noise, it is so COOL.
