87 460 in a 85 f150??

Hello I have A 85 f150 4x2 That had A EFI 302 and the 460 came from a 87 f350 with a c6 and it is a carb engine. I have search and read but there seems to be so many differnt set ups on this swop from year to year. I need to know what I really need to get together b4 starting the swop.

what I have read and belive i will need and questions
1. remote oil filter
2. A 4 row radiater "or will my 302 ac radiater work?"
3. what year mounts for the engine? if special mounts where do I get them?
4. Trans mount?
5. will my drive shaft from the 302 aod trans work with the 460 c6 trans?

Thanks Jim

You will need the bigger radiator, you will also need 460 motor mounts for the 85 and you may have to use an 85 F-250 for referencing the part, and a C6 tranny mount for the 85 as well which was an option for the F-150. Your crossmember should work, but I think the AOD is a tad longer which might make you DS a little short with the C6. Your gear indicator will be wrong too, as you will no longer have an OD gear. You may want to hit the salvage yard to find a correct cluster panel, or throw in an aftermarket floor shifter.

Why do you need a remote oil filter?

If you go to www.partsamerica.com and plug in a 1985 f150, 302 FI, and look up radiator you wil find it takes a #432183. Go up to the top of the screen and hit "change", and then click on "add new vehicle". Plug in a 1987 f250 with a 460, and the radiator screen will come back up, and one of the radiators that comes up is #432183, the same radiator.

If they sell it, you can flip back and forth between both trucks for any part your interested in. I am sure they have motor mounts, and I think all V8 frame brackets are the same. Just the six is different.

For the driveshaft info, go to www.car-part.com. This is a junkyard site, and you can do the same thing, type in both trucks and look for driveshafts, and see what comes up. If they ask you if you have a c6 or a AOD, you can be sure they are different. You can punch in your location and see if any of the local junkyards have what you want.

Thanks. I have checked the engine mounts on www.autozone web site and the 85 f250is the same part # as the 87 f350 mounts and the engine already has them so I hope it it will bolt right it.

I thought i need a remote oil filter because i have read were some people had to cut a hole in the cross member for the oil filter to clear. I belive it depinds on the what year and so on because i looked at mine and it comes off the front left side of the engine.
