Best Job of My Life...(Sorry, big pic)

How's this? My old boss calls me up, says his friend hired him to move a 32 Ford Roadster and a 56 T-Bird from his pop's place to his. 32 is in pieces, dad's in a mental ward. Spend two days @ $20 an hour ripping apart the garage looking for roadster parts. Found everything, and at the end of it all, Mike says I can have all the tools in the garage... I got at least $4000 in tools for just working my @$$ off. Two engine hoists, air compressor, more socket sets than I can count (all craftsman, snap on and williams), tap and die sets, ten vices, a full assortment of bodywork tools, a grinder, 5 power drills, 2 sanders, car ramps, a floor jack, a lifetime supply of motor oil and tranny fluid, work lights, c-clamps, tool boxes, mallets, hammers, drill bits, wrenchs, 3 torque wrenches, 2 timing lights, and mountains of other stuff in original boxes (granted, they were late 70's boxes, but still new). Helluva haul!
Anyone else have any crazy work stories? And even if not, anyone want to buy some tools?
Granted I'm keeping most of my haul, but there are some randoms that are going to the swap meet if nobody wants 'em.
Oh, also have a starter and a reman. Carb for a 360/390 motor. Carb's still under warranty if you know anyone interested...

About 30 years ago, I was working on a Ford Parts Inventory crew. One of the guys (Les) had worked at City Ford on North Broadway in East LA for over 40 years. When he found out I liked NOS Ford parts, he invited me to his home..."I have some old junk in the garage."

He wasn't kidding...over the years, the parts manager at City Ford would toss non returnable parts in a 55 gallon drum, and Les would cherry pick the stuff, and bring it home.

It took five truck loads to clean out the garage...some of the items: 1932 headlamps, several 34 grilles, new radios and heaters, piles of NOS wiring looms...you name it....from the early 30's thru the 60's.

One week later was the Annual Roadster Show at Mattel Industries. Within three hours, most of the parts were gone.

Yeah,
Most of my tools are from when I helped my godfather clean out his dads place after he passed. Not only that the rest of them are from my godfather himself when he decided it was time to move to AZ....got two work benches, one of them I helped him build...16 2x4x10's sandwiched on side front to back and bolted thru and thru..all sitting ontop of 4, 4x4's. His original intent for the thing was to be able to rebuild the engine of his ElCamino on.

Good job, brother, and good dough (and tool haul). You never know when something like that is going to fall into your lap.

I like your username too....(haha)

Sounds like you got a good deal for your labor. I have not had any deals like that come my way yet.

Poor15 - No problem. Picking up my truck tomorrow, so I might be busy catching up with work, but I'm borrowing a digital camera this week so I can post some truck parts and stuff on sale on craigslist. I'll sort through, and let you know what I'm selling.

PS Oh, and to speed things up, let me know if there's anything in particuler you're looking for...

Just started digging through today. Bunch of Proto sockets and wrenches (and plenty of misc), a torque wrench, screwdrivers, sheet metal clamps, hammers, mallets, an older engine hoist, a timing light, vices, and plenty more...
Running everything through the wire brush on my grinder, clean it all up. I'll get some pics and more detailed list of stuff this weekend hopefully.
