My 1000th post

For my 1000th post I tried to come up with something profound to say.

I gave up on that as I have to work tomorrow and can't drink that much tonight.

I then tried to come up with a really good question. You know one of those that everybody wants a piece of.

I'm not smart enough to come up with that question.

Finally I decided that what I really wanted to say is this.

Over the years I have been on this forum I have had the privilege of conversing with some of the finest people on earth and some really intelligent ones that could have done my first or second thoughts. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting many of you but I know that there are truly decent people still left on earth. This forum is the incredible equalizer. Here we speak without any judgements based on age, sex, race, gender or looks. We respect each other even when we disagree. So for my 1000th post I'll borrow a phrase from Spock.

"Live long and Prosper" both to the members and FTE.

Lets start our own sub-division! We can call it "Effie park" or "Fat fenders farm". We'll have our own building covenants! YEAH! Every house has to have a minimum 32'X40' heated garage. All lots are 5 acres. At least once a month YOU HAVE TO have a bon-fire in your yard so the neighbors know to come over to talk truck and imbibe in frosty beverage. (Anyone who doesnt adhere to the bon-fire covenant is banished!) Twice a month youre required to BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR. Why? CUZ ITS THE DECENT THING TO DO! Ok, were not done with the covenants, but its a start.
Oh yeah......

Congrats on the 1000 posts. I've only been here a little over a year and I'm close to halfway there. Guess I spend too much time on here and not enough on my truck.

Charles,

most profound and well said..... been a long time and both a pleasure and a privilege... this group, I think, is a little extraordinary in the way they meld and the amount of camaraderie we share.... you don't see that in every day life as much any more... maybe it's this weird obsession we share ???

I've been here since the late nineties. Ken Payne is the daddy of this and it started as an e-mail type list where someone asked a question (that got emailed to all the members) then everyone gave an opinion (that also got emailed to everyone) either on a per message basis or in a summary form...and it grew into the giant that it is now... it was fun the first day I joined and it's been fun every day since... without a doubt IMHO, the best site on the net.

"The good of the many outweighs the good of the few." I don't know how that applies here, but if you're going to bring Spock into the mix, I thought I would too. Don't get too bigheaded about Gurudom. It may be that your first 1000 will be your best 1000. "That would be illogical." Congrats on the milestone, Jag
