Thought Id stop by and let you all know that we have finally decided to have a meet coming up soon down here in So-Cal ....actually we're gonna have it up near the Barstow area in a place called Stoddard wells...if your interested in coming we'd be glad to have you...I have more details posted over in our neck of the woods so you can stop by there for more specifics..but I thought I'd give you all a heads up.

I`ve been down there a few times riding quads and dirtbikes. Are you talking about stoddard valley? We always parked out by the Slash-X,I`ll check out the so-cal forums as well

I have my eyes on it for the 24th and 25th. There are some other things happening down there in So Cal that I need to take care of. If the timing is right, I may be able to stop in. Depends on the timing.

That works for me - if I come I will camp out. It kind of depends on the 4X4 build - it comes first both time- and money- wise.

We were talking about a winter meet in Death Valley, this is close enough.

 

I'll keep in on my calendar, but I have a few priorities. As Clint said, the 4X4 comes first so it depends a lot on how far the build has progressed at that point. I'd also have to get some work done on the motorhome first, probably take me 2-3 days of work to get it useable. We'll see...

 

Just to let everyone know...if you need directions you can go to mapquest and look up a map for the "Slash X Cafe" and it should show you how to get there.

Scratch that,,I`m getting a rental rv out of bakersfield and have my truck pull the trailer.So just look for that out in the middle of the desert.

Hanklin, I will be arround with this rig - - - it has Wyoming plates and is not a Ford, but gets the job done. We should get with the others as to where to camp -

 

I plan on getting out there around 11am on fri and stay till mon am.I`ll keep an eye out for ya.Have you been there before?

No, nor to anyplace like it. I have to admit that this is the first time I considered 4wd as recreation - I have always had one around but only for the utility of it. Sometimes you need 4wd to go the places I like to go.

One rule my dad drummed into us kids was that we only used 4wd vehicles as transportation - that if we tried to find someplace they couldn't go, we would, and would also likely break something expensive.

Still, it is fun, and I am paying my own bills now!

When you come into Barstow take hwy 247(barstow road)to your right and then keep going.After you get out of town you will pass a dump(landmark) on your left(but keep going)in a minute you will be entering stoddard valley. The next thing you will come across is the slash-X cafe on your right. I`m not sure where everyone else is staying but I generally go to a spot that is right before you get to slash_x,dirt road is about 1/8 mile before the cafe on right. Make sure to bringall clothesas weather change is drastic

The chapter leader for Southern Californina and myself are trying to get some dash plates made up for the event - for those who let us know they will be there. So far it is just you and me from our chapter, but maybe some more will want to come. I think everyone is just wore out and feeling broke from the xmas season.

If anyone else from our chapter is going, please let me know!
