chassis

anybody use a modern donor chassis on a 1953 f100

If your a Young Fellow that doesn't listen to the Sage Advice of his Elders you might be able to do one.

I'm the guy that 4tl8ford was talking about in the post above.

A modern frame swap is doable but what are characteristics are you after?

If your after a ground scraping cruiser, it's much easier to just add an IFS to your existing frame. Most frame swaps end up with the truck sitting at stock height or a tad higher unless you channel the body.

If your just looking for a better ride with P/S and disc brakes, a IFS swap is much quicker, not to mention easier.

Now if you want to make a 4x4, here is when a frame swap is often required since there are major frame and drivetrain modifications to make the stock frame to work.

I did my frame swap since there are no easy donor 3/4 ton suspensions. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Listen to thewise advice of someone who has BTDT! Frame swaps are not easy!
