Hey all,

Well looks like my 04 5.4L is starting to fall victim to the dreaded "cam Phaser's". Oh, well it could be worse......

So I am starting to plan a winter project, R&R the cam phasors and do a few mods while I am in there. I got 2 questions....

1. Anyone know of a good "detailed" repair manual for these engines? I am a mechanic but want to get all the specs before I dive into it.

2. Since I am new to Ford, while I am in there I was wondering about doing a few mods. Since it is a 4x4 and I tow I want to concentrate on torque. Are there are good cam's out for these engines? What are some of the more common engine mods?

i did see that haynes has a repair manual but i dont know how detailed it is havent looked inside of one.

 

The Haynes manual should be fine if your already a mechanic.

 

As a mechanic if you really want the most detailed get the one from Ford although it will be the most expensive too.
