Hello, Im on the brink of buying a 1959 f 100. the owner knows little to nothing about the vehicle, and i was hoping you guys could help me out a little. What engines came with it, tranny. also i would like to know of any common problems it had, and things to look for before buying. please e-mail me at fishbatman(No Email Addresses In Posts!) with any info. anything is helpful, thank you very much.

HI MY NAME IS TERRY i have a 59 f-100 it has a 223 I6 3 SPEED TRANS COLOM SHIFT some came with v8 292y block not realy sure on others but you sure are at the right place KENNY BARRY and many others realy help alot keep asking and you will get answers GOOD LUCK TERRY

59 f 100 questions

The '59 F100 had 3 speed standard, 3 speed (MD) medium duty?, 3 speed (HD) heavy duty?, 3 speed w/ overdrive, 4 speed synchro. Engines were J code 223 6 with 126hp, C code 292-2V w/ 158 hp, and D code 292-4V w/ 160 hp. Hope some of this helps.

Just to add to the above....
They were also available with "Fordomatic" transmissions (trans. code "C").
One common problem that I can think of to look for would be rusted out floor pans, front cab braces, and "step" wells, along with the obvious door bottoms, lower front fenders, and bed floor.
Also check out the steering. A lot of these trucks with high mileage have worn steering components. These things are all repairable, but at least you'll know what you are getting into.
