Talking To Remove Or Not To Remove The Cat?

I have a 2006 6.0L with the MBRP cat back exhaust. Been thinking of removing the cat. and replacing it with the delete pipe. In fact it's on order.(AFE). Anyone have an opinion on this move? Pro's and con's? Will I benefit or have problems? Dang it...I just can's decide. Help!!!

I ordered it from DPPI. It was $39.99 plus shipping. They are a sponser for this forum.

I am curious as to if you have the MBRP exhaust why didn't you get the MBRP cat delete pipe? They make one for their system. I am sure you asked when ordering it but I am not sure the AFE will bolt up to the MBRP system.

The MBRP cat delete pipe will not bolt up to the factory down pipe. It has to be matched to a MBRP down pipe witch I do not have. However, the AFE cat delete pipe will bolt to the factory down pipe and to the MBRP cat back exhaust.

I'm straight piped as well, (I do have the MBRP Muffler installed but you can stick your fist all the way through it mine as well be straight). Only issue I have is build up of wasted fuel from running xtreme program, no big deal.

Wow its hard to believe this post made it this long. Cat delete is against federal law. I thought we couldn't post anything thats volates the law ?

With that being said I wouldn't do it for just that reason .

I installed the cat delete pipe about 5 months ago on my stock exhaust and I noticed instant improvement in throttle response, milage and power. A side effect is a slightly higher whine noise from the turbo but a sound that is great to live with. It's surprising how much performance loss there is with the cat on.

Here's a question for those with flow benches how much difference is there bewteen a stock 3.5" exhaust system with the cat deleted and a new 4" system also with the cat deleted? Is the cat delete the biggest influence or is it going to a 4" system, remember there's only a half inch difference, just a thought to chew on.

Cat delete is NOT against the law on a diesel.
I have done it on my '05 w/ MBRP cool duals. Sounds good, but the mileage increase is GREAT!!
With the Predator and turbo back - no cat exhuast, I get 26 - 28 on the hwy @ 55 - 60 mph - cruise control on.

Delete your cat, I am sure you'll be happy.
