Installing Pyro help

I know this has been talked about before but since search is down I can't really look. I have actually been trying to get the time to do this for several weeks now but havent been able to. I am wandering where most of you located the thermocouple on your trucks.

Pre turbo is where I have mine and 3 others installed for friends. Crawl under your truck on the driverside. Look straight up at back of the engine, you will see the exhaust manifold where it bolts to the up pipe leading to the turbo. Find a spot that allows a drill motor to fit. I drilled and tapped the manifold (cast iron) but you can put it in the pipe too. I did one on the pipe but it's thin so I welded a piece of 3/4 bar stock to it before drilling. This gives you more threads when it's tapped.

I used grease on the drill bit and magnatized it too. This collects most of the metal shavings. I then used a shop vacuum to get the rest of the shavings if there where any left.

Be sure the probe does not touch the opposite side of the manifold/pipe. It may give false or inaccurate readings if it does touch.

If you put it in the up pipe use a clamp on style mount. That way you don't have to worry about the tap or thread count.

I'm not a big fan of the clamp style, they have a tendency to leak over time. Leaks in the exhaust = loss of boost IMO.

I am a big fan of the clamp style. On the rare occasion that they leak it is easy to detect and easy to repair.....Unlike repairing a cracked cast iron manifold, anybody can replace a clamp and washer at home.
