Coolant Change/Oil Drain Plug Leaking
1. Does anyone have a link to a good step by step to changing coolant in an 2002 F250? I bought the truck used with 165K miles and not sure when the coolant was changed last. As it sits right now the coolant level is just above the MIN line on the resevoir, is this accepctable? Also when adding coolant I have read that you dont need to mix the gold/yellow coolant with any additive just 50/50 water is that correct? That was a lot more that one question.
2. My oil drain bolt has a slight leak could this be due to the fact the washer (seems to be copper or brass) needs to be replaced or is this possilby a sign of something worse? Do these washers need to be replaced at each oil change?
Thanks

2. You need a new washer at every change or get a Fumoto Valve www.dieselsite.com

Ok the fumoto valve looks like a must have.
I have read Kwikk's post about flushing coolant and the tech article on this site about the same topic. Kwikk mentions pulling the block drain bolts and the radiator plug but the tech article does not. Is pulling the block drains just a diesel thing or is it more of a time saving thing that can be avoided and still be efectively done just by pulling the radiator drain plug?

Alan's right about the copper washer each oil change and the Fumoto valve is sweet, no more oil down yer sleeve. If you want to get as much of the coolant out that you can, I believe you need to drain what's trapped in the block.
Don't mix gold and green coolants, with diesels you need to test the green coolant for additive depletion and adjust accordingly with the gold it's not required.
