1947 and older trucks Roll call! What do have and what are your plans!!

Scott, 1946 ford truck 1/2. 226 flathead 6cyl, with original 3sp and rearend. Some day would like to put a S-10 5sp trans and a 57-72 ford truck rearend in it. Outside I what it to look all stock except for the wheels. My wheels are off a 95 ford F-150, Aluminum style wheel. Can't decide on color yet.

My '42-just going to pull the cab, clean the frame, do some metal work and run it as-is...FH V8 and all. I might seel it though, once it's on the road...can only drive so many trucks at one time

My '36 I'm going with a dropped axle, 289 or 302, AOD tranny and the rear I pulled from my '48, think it was 3.73's. I only want to outside appearing stock, the inside is fair game...once I get to it.

1946 1/2 ton. On an 88 Ranger chassis. I'm keeping the 2.3 liter four banger and factory Ranger five speed. The chassis I found is four wheel drive, but this truck will be stock height, so no real muddin. I'm workin' on hidden door hinges right now. I'm avoiding chrome on this truck and going with powder coated trim (hammered metal aluminum color) instead, at least on the outside. This truck will look pretty stock on the outside. I'm looking at cheap enamel paint (dark blue). I want to avoid the high shine that comes with newer base coat clear coat paint.

1941 1/2 ton. 272 y-block, 3speed trans. This ones on the back burner. It runs and drives, and I just can't bear to tear it apart to fix the stuff I don't like on it. Maybe when I finish the 46 I'll tear into it. It's just too much fun to drive to take it off the road while it still runs. It is going to get new gears in the spring since it tops out at 50mph, but that's more of a bandaid than real progress.

I have a 46 Ford 1 1/2 ton flat body truck. It has a 100 hp flat head with a 4 speed and a vacuum 2 speed rear Axel. The truck is completely original with 63,000 miles. My grandfather purchased the truck in 1947 and it came with a new short block. It is stored in an unheated barn and, to my knowledge has never seen a snowy day. I do not run it on the highway. I use around the farm, mostly to haul hay for our live stalk. My plans are to leave it original, run it on the farm and keep it in the family.

1946 1/2 ton P/U: Originally a 6 cylinder, now has a '46 flathead V8 with a '47 3 spd trans. Stock body, will have monoleaf springs, has power disc brakes, mostly all original truck and trim, updated for better driving, will be painted original color, Greenfield Green, registered with original 1945 California truck license plate.

1946 1/2 ton P/U: Mercury clone, has all original Mercury pickup trim, will be powered by a small block Ford, automatic, someday will get IFS, stock body, will have custom interior.

1947 1 ton P/U: Still wears factory orange paint, will be powered by a 351W and automatic. Will receive disc brakes in front, 9" rear in back, to be repainted in factory orange color, is going to be used as a tow vehicle.

that didn't work, a 1945 ford one ton 157 inch converted grain truck, engine went in restoration project. a 1947 ford commercial with stake bed, next truck to restore. a shortened wheel base, don't know 1946 ford tow truck, parts for any of the other projects, 100 horse flathead is supposedly good, will go in stake bed. a 1946 ford coe has a 120 horse sleeved merc.an 1961 ford unibody 292 with a three on the tree. a 1961 chevy corvair, all that's left is paint if I ever find time. a 1950 IHC L122 with a ssd 220. hope to finish the POR 15 on the frame this weekend, and numerous other parts trucks to match, IHC parts are hard to come by. a 1984 ford ranger exporer 4x4 needs transmission, a spare tottaly diassembled 1946 ford tonner, been stealing parts off of it for a couple of years now. numerous other flathead from 85 to the 100 horse models, some out of other trucks, some off of threshers, and some ran irrigation pumps. working on the purchase of a 39 five window and a 57 sunliner. if I finish all of that before I die, I will have acomplished something.

1939 with 351w and fmx tranny, 9in rear ?gears, 1970 Ltd frame pieces, coil/overs in rear. Very yellow with Cragar-look wheels. The plan is to finish what my Dad started but my son who will eventualy get the truck might have some ideas:
Possibly using a Bronco chassis or Ranger chassis, do a 4x4 conversion!
This truck is so far from origional that anything goes!
The imediate plan is to install a new fuel cell and re-do the bed floor. I need to clean up the LTD's wiring harness, and re-do the inner fenders. I'd love to find new front fenders as the origionals have way too much Bondo. The interior needs a new look too.

Suggestions?

1940 Ford 1/2 ton. 4" drop axle in front, 2" worth of leaves removed from the rear ( there were 13 of them). 59AB flat motor with two Stromberg 97's on an Edmunds intake. Two original Edmunds oval air cleaners. Full flow oil system. Completely rebuilt internals to a CID of 250. New round gauges fit in the original dash panel. '39 3 speed top loader completely rebuilt. Leather buckets from a '90 Dodge Avenger. Early '60's drum brakes on the front, stock '40's on the rear. Modern shock towers and brackets front and rear. Smoothie wheels from Wheel Vintiques with stock '40 hub caps, 16X7 on the rear and 15X5 on the front wrapped with Bridgestones. Dual 2 speed wipers from New Port Engineering. Tinted glass all around. Fenton headers (original) with stainless Magna Flows. Currently in grey primer while I get the bugs worked out - have about 300 miles on it now. Steve

Red face 1946 Jailbar

as we Kiwis call them. Has 302W, added nice new Edlebrock Carby, Rockercovers, Air Cleaner etc, new gauges, stereo, alarm and most importantly wiring.
Off the road at the moment (check out my gallery for updated pics), getting new HT Holden front end, lowered by about 3", everthing being re-chromed (as we sit here!), moving the fuel tank from under the seat to back under tray, then putting battery and speakers under the seat. Recon trans adding breather and catch can.
New tasmanian oak tray (to be completed up the sides), with tool box also.
Then to top it all off having pink ghost flames painted on the nose.
And the list goes on........................
