1997 Ford Powerstroke starting problems

when i start my powerstroke, it sounds like it has a huge cam in it. does anyone know what that is from? also, when i coast to a stop, the rpm's drop to about 400 and then come back up to normal after a few seconds. does anyone know anything about these problems?

it starts fine when cold. it is when it is warmed up when it idles funny. it sounds like it has a huge cam in it for about five to six seconds. i heard it could be part of the high pressure oil system but not sure.
