Will '70 F350 Disc Brakes work on my 72 F250?

I've got a 72 F250 camper special that has power disc brakes, but the truck has been sitting for a while. I have the complete front end from a 70 F350 with disc brakes. Will the complete ibeams from the F350 swap over to the F250? Also, I know both are 8 lug, but is there any chance that my original F250 16.5 rims won't work. I want my F250 to look original.

thanks
Austin

well I'm not positive about the I-beams, but the rims should fit right on. They only used 16", and 16.5" to clear brakes and the such, and seeing as you want to run the 16.5"s, you should be all set there

Austin, If you are refering to a 4 wheel F350, then the answer should be yes. The dually uses a different wheel system and measurements.

thanks guys. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. The F350 was a 4 wheel truck (not 4WD). I don't know if I'm just going to move over the Ibeam/radius arm combo from the F350 to the F250 or just rebuild what the F250 has. I think I'm going to swap the F350 brakes over. That would be the least exspensive thing to do.

thanks

Austin, Disc brake are much better when it comes to stopping power. I would not run a truck without them. It is way tooo easy to get them, not to. IMHO

sorry John,

maybe I wasn't clear. Both the F250 CS and the F350 have disc brakes. So its a wash as far as that is concerned. The disc brakes from the F350 have been rebuilt and look great. The disc brakes on the F250 CS have been sitting for a long, long time. Unless that is some problem I don't know about, I'm going to take the twp ibeam/radius arm/spindle/disc brakes assy from the F350, put on new radius arm bushings and ibeam bushings and put them on the F250 CS. That way, the only thing I'm out is the rubber bushings.

thanks

Austin, I was wondering about that as I was posting, now I am wondering why are you going to that much work when new rotors, pads, and possibly calipers will do the trick. I think I would inspect & repack the bearings while I was at it too.

John,

The only reason I was considering this is I thought the factory disc brakes on the 72 F250 CS might be expensive. The CS hasn't moved since 79 so needless to say, some bits need replacing. I have rebuilt the 360 and C6, and I'm detailing it now. I'm completely refinishing the engine bay to look factory new. So I'm spending some pretty good money getting everything together. I don't know if the CS needs it or not, but I'm going to go ahead and replace the ibeam and radius arm bushings. So I bought the front end off of a very nice F350. The F350 brakes had just been rebuilt and look brand new. I also go the complete rear out of the F350 too. I only paid $150 for the complete front and rear suspension/brakes/everything from the F350. I thought it would be more cost effective to swap to (almost) brand new F350 front end into the F250 than rebuild everything on the F250. Seems like the same amount of work either way, so its just the money.

thanks
Austin

Austin, it is making more sense since you decided to splain it a little more in detail. If the truck is in the shop now and you have those kinds of replacement parts, I think I would swap them in.

I am gonna have to take a brush up course on mind reading.

Ok Ok. If you go back and read my original post, at least I do say the F250 brakes are old and have been sitting for a while. I guess I should have mentioned that the F350 disc brakes were almost brand new and the F250 disc brakes had been sitting since 1979.

thanks
Austin

Oh yeah. Another point. I just asked if they would swap over. I didn't think my reason for doing so was relevant. So
