92 302 V8: Engine Clean up/ Overhaul questions?
Hi Folks,
Not posted here for a while but having come back from holiday I feel refreshed and motivated to tackle the oil leaks from the Valve Covers and other engine issues.
So far so good but I have a few questions that I'd appreciate some help with:
1) Removal of engine loom. Having cleared off the top of the motor I want to remove the wiring loom to make more space. How does one separate the wiring connector on the drivers side wheel arch (near the air box) so I can remove the loom completely. I assume there are some clips or somthing?
2) If I release the bolts holding the fuel lines (hard steel lines) will the lines slip off the top of the injectors or will they need releasing with a tool?
I'm sure there will be more questions as I go on...

excelent - I'll give it a go tomorrow when I start again. So far RHS valve cover off and I'm pleased the motor isn't all gummed up with crud like others have been. Just a nice light brown.
Intake manifold/ Plenum is pretty muckys from the PCV and EGR influences.
Rather annoyed that the release kit I bought for A/C & Fuel lines (to change the fuel filter) doesn't contain 1/2 & 5/8 tools for the garter springs on the two fuel lines going to the back of the motor... time to look on ebay!

Are these the right tools to release the garter spring clips on the fuel lines - I get the impresssion they will do..

Yes, there a few over here. I predict no more than 15 in the whole of the UK. I only know of one other owner in Scotland but have seen some FSBs and IIs on Ebay from time to time in various states from horribly rotten (UK weather isn't good for a US vehicle) to perfect condition 96 which I'd have bought in a instant if I had £5000.
F150s are getting very popular now as a expensive status symbol (now eveyone has Range Rovers or Jaguars!) but they are too long for most UK parking lots. The bronco is a brilliant compromise - manuoerable, spacious, 4x4 - all the benifits of a 150 without the lenght...
Having said that I'd love a F250 Superduty 4x4!!!!!
