Flareside, That was a slip of the finger. No, I'm not even considering a Chevy. I meant to hit the 8 instead of 7. I would not mind it if I could find a 351W, but the 302 would be plenty for my boat. I want to get a 1987 -1991 F-150. I like that body style. I had a 1991 with the 5.0. I loved it. I am looking at a 1987 with the 5.0 and 5 speed manual tranny this weekend. I hope it is what I'm looking for. The guy's description is promising.

Previously being a 4.9 driver, I find the 5.0 is nice for getting on and off highways and general city driving. Honestly, I do miss my 4.9 when I'm moving a load, towing or carrying. The 5.0 just doesn't have the power down low that you get with a 4.9.

For a pretty much stock truck, yes the 5 spd and 5.0 moves pretty good. I've got to rev it pretty high to get it moving, but once it's rolling, look out.

Hey "Bigredmachine".....what part of SC are you in? LowCountry here......Goose Creek.

You guys actually use your trucks for towing??? I read somewhere that trucks are status symbols and most are used for running to the grocery and taking kids to school and hard jobs like that........and here you guys are talking about power and towing and stuff...............Geeeez

Anyway..........thought I'd try to help with the "homey or homely" here........whichever comes first.

Bob

I just read your other post Bigred and see you are up around Greenville. Hard to find any FTE'rs down here.

Hey Bob. Yes, I'm from Greenville. I actually use my truck...lol. I haul mulch, gravel, block, even a little trash in it. It's good to see a fellow sandlapper on here. By the way, my name is Scott

doesnt really matter as much of how much power an engine makes, as where in the power band that it makes the most of it.
