Where you at in Saskatchewan, Sherm?

My 02 was a Supercab 4X4 with the 5.4 engine and it went back on the lease in June of 2004. At that time my salesman friend told me it would sell at auction for about $21K (with under 50 000 km). I would say that $17K is way high for the truck you are referring to, particularly because 2wd's do not seem to hold their value as well as 4wd's. Try starting them out at about $12K and see how they react.

Also there were often problems with brakes, pasticularly the rear ones. Mine were getting close to worn out.

A good thing to do, is to use online Black Book trade in tools as a rough guide of what the dealer would pay for that vehicle. If the vehicle has 65000miles (104000km) then it will automatically be classified as "rough" and therefore the dealer would pay the lowest value in the blackbook range regardless of the options the vehicle has or it's condition (mint physical condition means nothing when it has over 100,000km, although they will say otherwise when they try to sell it to you). Based on what I just said, the price they would pay for that truck would be $9100. With average certification costs and 20% markup the price bigdavewilson said (12k) is pretty much dead on for that vehicle. However, if you live in a big market like I do (Toronto area), there are so many uneducated buyers that will pay too much for high mileage vehicles, that if you get it for 13000, you did pretty good...

If you want to play with a blackbook tool, you can use this one through GM's site. HTH.

I just bought an 02 F150 Supercrew about 3 weeks ago in Winnipeg. It has a bit more mileage on it - 147000K but it is relatively clean for its age and it is the Lariat trim model so it has leather etc. Lots of bells and whistles. It is the 5.4 and 4 wheel drive. Quite a nice truck. I paid $16,600 if that helps.

I'm pretty much straight North from you at Sandy Bay. Can't say as I know Mr. Stromberg, but I trust you got him to check out the brakes. Other than that the 02's are good trucks and the 4.6 is a long lasting motor. You and that truck will do just fine.
