Hey all,
whats the largest fuel tank I can run on my 1980 F-150 flareside? I have the 16 gallon tank on there now. Could I replace it with the 19 gallon tank? What about the monster bronco 30+ gallon rear mounted tank?
Has anyone ever done this?

you can run the rear tank if you wished but since the wheel base of the truck is shorter all you can use as the side tank is the 16 gallon

 

I'd go ahead and use a Bronco tank in the rear. Just remove the spare if it hangs under the truck and use the Bronco mounting hardware. The only problem you might have is that it hangs lower than the stock one making 4 wheeling a little dicey unless you get a skid plate.

 

Could go to a dual tank setup. Use the rear 20 gallon from an f-series which sits completely inside the frame and keep your 16 gallon saddle tank. 36, just like that.

Or do the 33 gallon bronco tank, but it just looks goofy.
