I have been using Mobil 1 5w 30 and changing at 5000 mile intervals. I recently noticed a quart of Mobil 1 5w 30 Truck and SUV oil. Does anybody know anything about this stuff, the Mobil 1 web site is kind of vague...

I emailed Mobil 1 to see what they said about this new product, here is their response...

"The Mobil1 Truck and SUV 5W30 has more anti-oxidants compared to the
Classic Mobil1 which will help with oil thickening, sludging and a
better choice for hard working gasoline engines. They are the same
price, so you might as well utilize the Mobil1 Truck and SUV 5W30 if it
is available to you.

Mobil1 oil filters remove 99.2% of contamination on the
multiple-pass efficiency test which is the best, has a synthetic
fiberglass media compared to paper materials used by other
manufacturer's. The product has a strong metal backplate that can handle
over 10 time the normal operating oil pressure so it will not leak or
burst and also less than 1psi initial restiction of oil flow at

At one time the Truck and SUV oil from M/E had the exact same formulation as Delvac 1 which was probably one of the best PAO synthetics ever built, but then again, that's just my opinion.

 

A lot of us are still waiting for the old M1 T&S (aka Delvac1) to re-appear as M1 Turbo Diesel 5W40. Unfortunately, the Turbo Diesel bottles have yet to be seen anywhere... Except on Mobil's website-

I read the specs for 5W30 T&S and they differ from both of M1's other 5W30 (gasser) formulations which surprised me. I was really expecting a re-packaged version of one of the other M1 products.

 

good news -- I just bought 18 quarts of mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 at Murray's auto parts in Detroit. They don't stock the 5 quart jugs, unfortunately.

Wal-Mart is theoretically going to be stocking TDT in the coming weeks.
