before the turbo, right on the manifold. You want to know how hot it is to keep your pistons from melting. Make sense?
I dont have one, I just remember this exact post coming up last month.

Pre turbo has my vote too, but if the thermocouple breaks off (highly unlikely) the turbo woll get hammered.

Running a post-turbo pyro will give you the temp of the exhaust AFTER it's expended its energy spinning the turbine, typically 300-500 degrees below the important reading( the one that tells you you're about to have a meltdown).

Alright alright :-P

Ok so the consensus is pre-Turbo. So what kind of range of temps should i be looking at? All i have done currently is the Tymar AIS with an AFE filter and a 3" DP...

With that setup, you shouldn't exceed 1200, even pulling a load. Add a chip or tuner and you'll need to keep it below 1250. If I was heavily loaded (over 8k trailer), I could overheat on the Grapevine with the tuner.

A lot of guys mount it right on the driver side manifold. I'm sure theres pictures on here of that. I mounted mine right before the turbo after the y-pipe. Its really simple to do.
