Rebuild a 5.4l Triton V-8

Can you replace the connecting Rod bearings from below without pulling the engine?.......2003 F-250 with a 5.4L Triton.

That would be hard to say. I just checked my Ford factory repair CD and it shows only the connecting rod bearing replacement as being done with the engine already out of the truck.

Just to change the botton oil pan requires you to remove the transmission so the engine can then only be raise 0.5" with a special tool and then you can remove the oil pan. Once this is done, I would not know if you would have unrestricted access to the connection rod bearings. Really looks like a mother to do either way.

Yes you can!!! I just did it on my F-150. You can drop the front differential (its its 4x4) and remove the oil pan. (good time to check the oil pick-up tube screen). Remove the oil pick-up tube which is just three bolts.

This will expose the entire crankshaft and connecting rods. Just bar the engine around so each cylinder is at BDC and pull the cap bolts.

After each cap is pulled, you can push the piston up and out of the way and replace the rod bearings. (This is much easier to do with the spark plugs removed to relieve the cylinder compression.)

Hope it helps!
