King Pin Bushings

I purchased a King Pin Kit for my 77 F150 2wd truck and I ruined two of the king pin bushings while trying to ream them to the proper ID. I was using an adjustable reamer set and I had to ream the bushings individually one from the top of the spindle for the upper bushing and from the bottom for the lower bushing. When I went to install the king pin the reamed bushings were not in-line with eack other and the kingpin would not go through both bushings. Apparently both bushings need to be reamed at one time along the same axes or centerline. My reamers were too short to do both bushings at the same time. So here's my question; where can I purchase a couple of new king pin bushings w/o purchasing an entire new king pin set? The set I purchased is MOOG p/n-8540B, which is a division of Federal Mogul. The parts list which came with the kit lists the king pin bushing p/n as BK-255. I have searched the web and I have come up with no success. Anyone know where I can get replacement bushings?

You might try your local Ford parts department or NAPA.

Try an automotive machine shop; they might have some generic bushing stock or have something lying around that would work. If not, well, yell some profanity really loud, kick something unimportant, and chalk this one up to experience and let the machine shop install the new bushings.

Did you ask the parts people you bought the set from if they could order them for you?
If not try and find Moog on the net and get an address or perhaps you can email them
to try and buy the bushings. FM I believe is now a part of Dana Corp.

Yes I contacted NPD, but they said they didn't carry them and they would not order them. The same thing happened when I ordered my axle pivot bushings from them, but this time they were listed in their catalog and when I received them they were not the correct bushings. The bushings they sent me were round axle pivot bushings for a F250 and I needed the oval ones for my 77 F150 2wd truck. Their catalog had the wrong part number listed and I found the correct part number on the web (McQuay-Norris) and when I gave NPD the correct number they said they did not carry that item and that they would not order them either. I could not understand why if they carry other McQuay-Norris suspension parts why they just could not order the correct ones from M-N, but they would not. I have a hard time believing I was the 1st person to ever order a set axle pivot bushings for the 73-79 F150 2wd trucks from NPD. I ended up getting them from Napa in the end.

You may be limited in parts houses in your area, I know one thing, they would wait a long time to see anymore of my money with treatment like that. Hope you can find
a way.
