First Fillup of B100- Oh yeah.

well i was down to 1/8 of a tank, and i am driving alot tomorrow so i figured tonight would be a good time to go fill up. i found a retailer that sold b99.9, so i consider it b100. it is about 30 minutes away. pulled up and saw only reg diesel, no biodiesel. so then i go across the street to Shell, i figure i will just get $20 of dino to hold me over. well i get $20, (6.73 gal@2.96)and then walk inside to pay. on the way by i saw a seperate pump right next to the door. pulling in i thought it was Kerosene or something so i didnt stop. i hit myself when i saw it was 100% soy biodiesel. i go inside and pay for my $20, and then go over and top off on b100. took foreverrrrr to fill up, however i squeezed in another 29.4 gallons for a total of $100 more. yes, the stuff was 3.39 a gallon, but i dont care. 514 miles, i got a total of 14.2 mpg, however that was with the installation of stacks, not bad.

figured up with a 40 gallon tank, im running a mixture of b73 if the "biodiesel" already in my tank is 2%. on the way home i caught myself smelling my hands several times, yes this stuff smells just like soybeans in your hand. the stuff i got was orange in color, thought it was going to be clear.

i was almost home, rocking out to Hinder and when accelerating in an area where i could really hear the engine well off the walls of buildings, i barely heard it, and i wasn't driving any different. so i turned the radio down, and to my surprise i can barely hear it running, the engine. still hear exhaust tone as good as ever, haven't rolled any smoke yet. got home and jumped in the bed and smelled the exhaust. took a big whiff of it too. it didnt burn my nose like the regular stuff does. it reminds me of methanol the sprint cars run when you first start them up for the evening and then get that nice aroma.

im pretty happy. if i hadn't put any regular dino in the tank, i would have had b90....

oh one more thing! i almost forgot. when i went in to pay, the clerk showed me something about the Maryland Soybean Board, it was a certificate giving a 50% rebate on biodiesel! yes, if you buy over $200 of fuel between 10/1/2005 and 9/30/2006, you can get half back of what you spend on pure B100 unblended fuel. up to $500 rebate. im catching on a little late, but still this is going to be great. i bought $100 tonight, and in a few weeks i will have to fill up again because i will be driving alot more with practice starting today and everything, so i will be basically paying for half my fuel

Yea, I hope to burn some of that on vacation. Tried it once so far, ran a little quieter.

Careful though, I heard that the bio really cleans out the tank. Might keep a check on the fuel filter for a couple of tanks worth. I read a thread about how it will shine the inside, how? dunno but you might search it out.

Where was the station located? I can't afford to do stacks right now, but I'll try bio.

It's acidic and cleans real good....makes good parts cleaner except
that it leaves everything really oily.

We go to Martinsburg almost every week. I'll have to make a slight detour to fill up. Thanks for the info

I really don't understand running BIO we should have a tax break. We should be paying a lot less than running dino. Just like people get tax breaks for electric cars we should be able to get a tax break running BIO. This is better for the environment as well help out the good ole US farmers.

Empire I was wondering the same thing. Half back on our fuel is, well, a crapload of money. I wonder if there are only "Soybean Boards" in the states that actually grow the crop?

thanks guys. the name of the orginazation is Maryland Soybean Board. try Colorado Soybean Board or Texas Soybean Board.

the B100 is $3.39 and the regular diesel is $2.96. i dont care if i pay $.40 more even if there wasnt that little rebate thing going on..

but the thing that eats me up is the fact that im trying to help out america's farmers but not sending my money overseas, however i had to pay a dothead inside when i went to pay for it.
