'92 Explorer: Where's the SPOUT connector?
I know fully well that I have to disconnect the SPOUT connector to check timing. Read it at least 100 times now. I totally get that part.
This is on a 1992 Ford Explorer with the 4.0L V6. It does not have a distributor. It has the coil pack.
Now then, on to my problem, and the reason for the for the post icon.
Where is this dumb thing?
Kind of hard to check timing if I dont even know where this mystical SPOUT connector is located!
Now, and this may be going out on a limb, possibly asking too much, but say the timing is off. How do I go about changing it?

Um, no.
Here's the sticker right in front of the radiator:
"This vehicle is equipped with EEC-IV, EFI, and DIS systems. Engine idle speed, idle mixture, and ignition timing are not adjustable. See Engine/Emissions Diagnosis Shop Manual for additional information.
To check engine timing set parking brake and block wheels. Engine must be at normal operating temperature, transmission in neutral, and accessories off.
(1)Turn off engine
(2)Disconnect the in-line Spout connector
(3)Re-start previously warmed-up engine
(4)Verify that the ignition timing is 10 BTDC. If not see shop manual.
(5)Turn engine off and restore electrical connection."

The SPOUT (aka SAW) plug on the 4.0 is located next to the EDIS module. It is a gray two-pin plug that, when pulled, removes PCM control of timing and dwell from the EDIS module, and causes the timing to default to the default 10 DBTDC.
Base timing is NOT adjustable but can be verified in this manner.
