Firing Order 1967 352 V-8 and Mixture question
Greetings Folks,
Well the saga of the free 1967 Ford F-250 continues.
With the new vacumm advance and a timing light I got some major improvement in the running. Someone had it gapped at .26 or so and the timing was almost 20 degrees. Gapped the points a tight .16 and set it at 10 degrees and she seems to be running pretty smooth. Going to road test tomorrow and play with gap up to .18 and the timing. See if she pings under power. Right now she starts with a turn of the key no pumping of gas or anything and the backfire problem is gone.
I wanted to check the firing order and was hoping someone knew the correct firing order for a 1967 Ford F-250 352 V-8.
Also any suggestions for hand setting the mixture would be helpful. I don't have an O2 meter so I'm limited. It's a Motorcraft 2 bbl with two screws underside on front.
Thanks,
Phil

The best way to set the carb is with a dwell/tach tool. It is handy for checking to see that you set the points correctly and for setting the carb up to run it's best. Set the carb by turning the left front screw on the carb in until the RPM's drop and then out until you reach the highest speed. Do the same on the other side. After doing this twice and reaching your highest RPM, reset your idle speed to specs and you are off to the races. I almost forgot, the firing order is 15426378 Good luck.

You should find this page of mine helpful ?

A vacuum tester works well for mixtiure screw adjustment.
Mixture screws should be done last..... after all the mechanical stuff is set correctly.
Usually what I do is :
turn a screw in until the engine starts to stumble.
"Mark that spot in your mind"
then turn the screw back the other way counting exact amount turns until it starts to stumble again, ....then divide that number in half ...and turn it back the other way that much....

Well it is an amazing thing. Simply amazing. Checked the firing order and # 6 and 7 were crossed. It's like a brand new truck.
Jeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz the saga never ends. Putting new thermostadt in abd had torque wrench set at 15 to snug them down and guess what......
Yep! Broke an ear off. Crap! No place to get one on Sunday around here either.
Oh well. It is really coming along nice.
