Hi,

I'm new to the Ford Truck world (my other 'truck' is a '99 Ch*vy Suburban). Tonight, I am buying a 1965 F100 2X4 from my father-in-law. It needs lots of work, but it runs. Anyway, I hope it will make the trip from the in-law's in Taos to our house in Santa Fe.

The tires are the first thing I need to fix. They are slick and cracked and unbalanced.

The truck has 16" wheels on it. I'd like to know what range of tire sizes are best for this truck.

Same here, me too. i definitely want different wheels.

 

If your not conserned with showing the truck just get some 15 inch rims. I've got those "Waggon Wheels" You know white spoked rims. there cheap like $30 a pop.
I run 235 75 15 Tara Trax by Hercules I love the 6ply side walls with 8 ply rating. These trucks were designed before the radal tire, that something to remember when tire shopping cause the cheapo run of the mill radail tire dose not have a stiff side wall like a Bias tire did. That why i like the above its a truck tire. They sell a 4 ply too that has a 6 ply rateing but the 6 with 8 is better.
Don't go with GY Wanglers! My truck had then when I got it and it drove like a wet noddle! You could see the rim turn inside the tire at a stop. 1/4 turn of the wheel before the tire moved! changed tire and it tracks on the road great. 6ply's cost a bit $130 dealer cost but, last set i had on a trooper i got 110,000 out of!!

ya know what fits nice on the back is p275 60r15. fits like a condom under the box
