Water in fuel won't drain
#3
Don’t do that first procedure in your garage.
I have never owned a diesel before and on the trip home from the used car lot (about 90 miles) the light started flashing really briefly. About twenty miles from home it stayed on long enough to see it and read it. So as soon as I got home I grabbed the owners manual and looked it up. It seemed like an easy thing to do so I nosed the truck into the garage, got a bucket and popped open the valve. Nothing happened. I ran weedeater twine up the tube all the way into the can and got the twine wet but still nothing.
So I decided to park the truck in the garage and head for the internet to see what to do. It wasn’t until I shut it off that I realized I had forgotten to close the valve. The pressure of the fuel system will blow that gelatinous plug right out of there, the water dumps and then fuel starts coming out.
It takes weeks to get that smell out of the garage.
But the next time I had to dump the water it came right out like it is supposed to.
