powrstrkn, a brush hog that is articulted with a twin 5' blade in the front being helped along with a 125HP turbo diesel. Would look similiar to this with a rotary cutting unit that would look like an old Gravely mower only magnum in size. Cutting swath was 10' for the units we picked up. A pull behind unit wouldn't last 100 yards down here. Heck, a farm tractor won't make it down here. The country is real heavy brush and most equipment with tires won't go anywhere except on the roads. These units have solid tires which helps but the front cutter makes all the difference.

I cannot say after those years , for I have been out of the construction industry since 1990. But, looks like the video on myspace shows it is still true.

The fact still remains that Ford has generally built a stronger truck for pulling or hauling, with stronger components, and a longer lasting drivetrain that will handle loads much better- when comparing equally equipped trucks. There has always been a battle to see who can reach the top of the hill fastest...but it's just started to really turn into a war in the last few years.

Much better post than the goofy one you quoted.
If I may expound a tad on it;
460's and 454's were always very close UNTIL the 460 became a lame duck when the V10 was being readied.....the 454 seemed to be tad stronger in those last few years ('96-'98??) The V10's had already been in vans for a few years before the '99 superduty....maybe the reason the 460 wasn't bumped to the 454's levels those last years????
The 350's and 351 wew also a toss up .....UNTIL the Vortec headed 350's in '95(?) came out. Ford's were not only down 30Hp but the MPG difference was huge favoring the GM in those last few years...
As you stated concerning diesels............GM never was close until the Dmax.
Far from some 30 year delusional fantasy...

Thanks guys...
DOHC...I agree with your assumption about the last few years of the 460...makes complete sense. Ford could have easily achieved 30 more hp to match the Vortec 350 in the GM...but the 4.6L had already started production, and the 5.4L wasn't far off, so there was no point in uping the 351. That coincides with the V10.
