Automatic Door Lock/Unlock Question

My 02 doors lock automatically after the truck rolls up to about 5 mph. When I stop, the drivers door unlocks automatically, but not the passenger side. I have to remember to use the manual switch on the drivers door, which unlocks both doors, including the passenger side. The door lock actuators obviously work ok, since the switch operates both of them. My burning question is this: Is this a feature for the young buck trying to steal a goodnight kiss from his lassie, to keep her from quickly leaping out and away, or is there some other reason the door locks work this way?
Thanks
Warren

hmm, my 2002 does not automatically lock the doors and unlock when you stop... however our 2004 and up trucks automatically lock but not unlock at 5mph.

My 01 doesn't lock or unlock automatically either. BUT, my dad's 02 locks automatically.

Is there some way to enable/disable this? I know you can disable the seat belt chime with a few turns of the key and some button pushes. Maybe it's the same way for the auto lock/unlock?

On my '02 PSD SuperCab both doors lock automatically at 5 m.p.h., but I've never noticed it unlocking automatically. I know that if I press my remote once to unlock, it just unlocks the driver side door. I have to push it twice to unlock both doors.

Now this is funny. Because I just posted the same question over in the SD forum and someone told me this wasn't an option in 01........ and I have a Lariat, so you think it would do everything.

I'll bet that the locking and unlocking is settable with some kind of switch manipulation. I'm waiting for a Fort Tech to chime in here.

I'm willing to take that bet..... I do know that the seat belt chime can be disabled by doing some key turns and button pushes.....
