Radiator Leaking ??

Hi I have an 95 psd 160,000 miles and the radiator is leaking . The leak seems to be coming from the seam at the bottem of the rad . Anyone have problems like this. Is it common ? Should i get new Rad or just take it out and soder it ?

Can't solder it; it's a plastic tank that's crimped to the cooling tube assy. As a stopgap measure, you could get some JB Weld & apply it to the leaking area.

I have had luck re-crimping the seam with a pair of modified pliers to fit the job. If you have a good radiator shop in your area they can do it for you. You'll probably have to remove it tho.

The tanks usually leak because of an installation problem, causing too much stress on the radiator seams. Look at the rubber mounts for deterioration or maybe it's been smacked, bending the radiator supports/mounts.

160k on a radiator seems like the end of it's reliable life. It just costs $$.

Thanks for the replys.. i have bought a new rad anyway only $225 canadian and its a performace rad, pure alumimun. they say it cools better then stock and has solid welded seams . so i never have to worry about the seams leaking again !!!
