the only big drawback i can see is that the 74 frame will be wider thant the 59 frame. this will make for all new body and bed mounts, plus the wheels will probably stick outside the front and rear fenders unless you use offset wheels to compensate for this.

the trucks up to and including 72 all had the same frame width, so those years trucks would be easier to swap bodies on.

but if you are willing and have the fabrication skills and time, it could be done.

I put my '51 truck on a '78 F-250 frame. You can check out my tech article here:

It might help get you started on your project.

Yesterday I finally got the frame cleaned up and painted I have an LTD with a 400 and I am thinking about using it in my 1959 project I just have to pull it out of the weeds to get the motor out I remember it was leaking water so I hope a freeze plug came out and the block isn't busted if the block is busted I will use the 302

Sounds like it will be a great project. I had a 1960 F-100 big window in high school. We didn't do a frame swap but we did install all the suspension, engine tranny, and t-case from a 75 F-150 4x4.

It was a cool truck

Good luck

it'll be cool only thing id do is put a manual in istead of a c6. trucks should just have a stick shift and thats all there is to it. but do what ever you want.

I was wondering if the old 1959 frame would be worth anything it is complete as far as I know and it has a 223 6 cylinder 3 on the tree I was wondering if it would be worth anything or is it just scrap metal

It is definitely worth something to the guy who wants it!!!

Sale price is always dependant on time. If you've got the time...it's got the value.

That guy might read this post. Or, he could come along next year. He'll pay "something" for it.

So...the price you ask is ultimately dependant on how soon you want to sell it.

I might start at $300...and suffer the outrage for a while. But then...I'm greedy that way.

(Excuse me, I always double-space when I think I am being profound...)

I had a 59 F-100 myself. Had the 292 V-8. She was one of the best running trucks I have ever had. This was in 1998. Is the chassie so bad that you have to replace it? Or do you just want a more modern one? My 59 (Dorthy) would run with the rest of them and then some.

they more modern frame will have some advantages but will the counter the time it takes to build mounts. you could put motor and trans mounts in the old frame eaiser than you could swap frames. i changed my frame to that of a 61 but i just wanted 4wd wicth i viewed as worth it.

I thought about using the original chassis but I wanted a different motor, transmission , front axle and a different rearend so I figured it would be easier to just use a whole diffent chassis
