Are you 2005-2006 6.0 owners having any problems like the earlier 6.0's?

Question Are you 2005-2006 6.0 owners having any problems like the earlier 6.0's?

I'd like to hear from you later model 6.0 owners. Like 2005, 2006 and even better the 2007's.

My truck is a 2003 F250 with the 6.0. Although I haven't had any engine problems with it this past year (except poor cold starting, which there is a recall for it now, but I haven't had time to take it in yet) I did however have TONS of problems the first 2 years.

I will never buy a new body style or first year engine again. Learning my lesson there, I will not want the new 2008 6.4tt untill it's been proven reliable.

So..... I am thinking of ordering a new 2007 with hopefully a "bugless" 6.0. Is it truely a trouble free engine and truck combination now? I was thinking it would be nice to have a new truck again and no bad memories associated with it.

There is a lot of performace stuff available for the 6.0 now too, so that's another good thing for the old 6.0.

Please respond if you have a late model with the 6.0 and whether you have had any problems and what miles you have.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this.

thank you,

xman, first off there is no such thing as a trouble free engine. im sure u new that. but for the most part ford has done a great job improving the engine every year it has been in use. there were over 100 changes to the engine from 2005-2006. just little stuff like shaving thousanths off exhaust ports and such. but every year the 6.0 has gotten better. i waited until 2006 to get mine and so far 4000 trouble free miles. next month ill make my first long trip, really let her stretch here legs. ill post after the trip. hope this helps x.
p.s.
there is a thread on here where a moderator has listed all the changes made in the 6.0 from year to year. u can search for it if your interested.
keep it ford

xman,
06 with 6,800 miles total (2,000 miles towing 14k load) and no problems whatsoever- Great truck

I completely agree with your statement about never buying a new body style or first year engine production...

xman, I have an 06 with no problems to report except for the oil drop on the bell housing that seems to plague many of the 06's. I had the RMS replaced but the wet spot is back. I may be seeing assembly lube because I've only got 3000 miles on her. Other than that its an awsome truck and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

06 F350 6.0 w/13.5K miles and not one problem. Runs like a top. >70% highway miles with most hauling a TT, sometimes overloaded. Never even moaned, just keeps going. Buy one again in a heartbeat (knock on wood).

05 with just over 30K and no problems. Except I like to drive it too much and fuel prices are unfortunately not getting any more affordable these days.
Getting ready to take a 2000 mile trip with my travel trailer in tow. Just changed my oil and fuel filters for the trip at the 30,000 mile service. Can't wait to go! I just love having an excuse to drive her. Otherwise I have to be a responsible guy and drive my econo-car to save fuel. Yuck, I hate when I have to be responsible.

Great Truck!

2005 F250 6.0L Auto Trans. all stock w/ 12,000 miles, Engine Oil and Filter change every 2500 mi. Air and Fuel filters changed every 5000 mi. and additives at every fuel fill-up (I do my own maintenance),.. with this extra expense, long trips, heavy hauling and long idle times are of no concern to me...my truck runs clean and strong!!! No problems at all...!!!

I work for ford and i usually get a new truck every 2 yrs but i am gonna wait a yr or two with the 6.4 and i am not keen on the new body at all. I have seen it in person. The interior rocks though!!
