Voted on the 11mpg, actually it's 11.5 from San Diego to Bakersfield or Sacramento. Long stretches of highway doesn't seem to gain much. Up and over the grapevine to Buttonwillow (near Bakersfield) nets 11.5. Buttonwillow to Sacramento, still nets 11.5. Go figure since Buttonwillow to Sac is fairly flat.

I also average 65 mph, up hills, flat, slight incline, the 3v doesn't care!

1. Year - 2005
2. Cab configuration - Crew Cab
3. Current mileage on the odometer - 26k
4. Auto or stick - T/S 5sp Auto
5. 2WD or 4WD - 2WD
6. Rear gears - 4.10
7. Tire size - Stock
8. Cap or no (if a P/U) - Hard bed cover
9. Zero aftermarket accessories.
10. 1750 pound open car hauler with a 3200 pound car plus a bed full of spare parts and tool boxes (at least 1K in the bed).

1 - 2001
2 - sc/sb
3 - 54000
4 - auto
5 - 2wd
6 - 3.73
7 - 265 x 75 x 16
8 - no
9 - no

I usually pull a 20' x 6'8" (that's the floor size) gooseneck stock trailer, steel w/covered top and nose (a Circle D, if anyone cares), empty it weighs around 5800#. Most of the time that I'm towing long distances it's to a show, so the load's usually not real big, say 8000# give or take a little. Mileage varies alot with conditions, but with little or no wind and no real long or steep hills, I'll average 10 if I run 60 - 65. I figure about every 5 mph over that costs me 1 mpg.

9. Any aftermarket accessory that has had an effect on your mileage if it is far off the forum's average. = Bank powerPack
10. Weight, size and configuration of trailer. Fifth wheel, load-leveler, etc, and how much the trailer weighs approximately. = 27" Travel Trailer with slideout. Only 7500 lbs but it is higher than my last trailer and pushes more air.I had been getting 7 to 7.5 pretty consistently until this year. In the off season, I had the 3.73s changed to 4.30 and added a Banks PowerPack with TransCommand and Ottomind and now have been getting 8.5 to 9. It may not seem like much but, I can go another 35 to 70 miles between fuel stops now or stop at the same places and get less gas!

I got these figures while towing my 32 ft. Alumilite travel trailer in and around Colorado. My truck does seem to get better mileage at higher altitudes 6 to 10 thousand feet. When I checked it at lower altitudes (sea level to 3000) the mileage was in the nine mile per gallon range.

1. 1999
2. F-250 crew cab long bed
3. 89,000 miles on odometer
4. manual, four speed with 5th over
5. two wheel drive.
6. 373:1 LS rear end
7. 265/75R16
8. no cover, open bed with stock tail gate
9. Factory original, no mods.
10. Don't know the weight of my trailer. I have two trailers, the one mentioned above and a 26 ft. enclosed car trailer that I haul my 56 F-100 around in. The car trailer not only has my 56 in it but also a full work bench in the front with steel over head cabinets, a vice, air compressor, and a tool chest siting on a rollaway cabinet plus a couple of hundred pounds of spare parts.

A foot note to the above. I believe the manual transmissions seem to do better on gas than the automatics due to the lack of parasitic slippage. Also I might add that I traded a 91 F-250 with a 351 W and a five speed manual and 3:55 rears and pulling the same Alumilite travel trailer it got about the same mileage as the V-10. So I guess there are indeed technological advances in the gas mileage war.

Like I mentioned in another discussion I make 10MPG towing our trailer. I rarely hit 65 on the freeway due to the height of the trailer and the bad feeling around tractor trailer rigs.

Year= 2003
Super duty, Super Cab, XLT, Sport Edition
Miles=27K
Auto Trans
2 WD
18" Michelins
Tonneau Cover
Add ons= K&N intake system, Helix Tower Power, Flowmaster Exhuast
Trailer= 25' Sprinter Travel Trailer, Approx 6800#
