battery light comes on

the first thing other than the ignition coil on my truck is happenin..tho nothing negative happens..when I gun the truck and let it go up past 4500 rpms the battery light comes on then goes away once shifted...could this be the belt slipping at high rpm...I beat the crap out of my truck and it is used to revving high ..this just started last week...but if i gun it and let off enough that it shifts before 4500 the light stays off...any ideas where to look?...I inspected the belt and it seems adequate...by no means is it new but no cracks or negative wear on it...

I've seen alot of Taurus cars do this as well. I always thought of it as Ford's funny idea of a shift light. I've tested the cars thinking alternator was bad and never found a bad one. I'm sure other people may have a different idea.

LMFAO...figures ford would think to tell the driver of a truck with an auto tanny to shift...Ford jokes come easy..but to be honest..it is the best damn vehicle i have ever owned...this is my 3rd truck and first ford..the other 2 were Ch#v and a D#%ge both with major issues and cosly repairs...never gonna buy anything but a Ford ever again after this one...Maybe another RX7 for weekend ***** to the wall highway runs...but they are still in a way a ford...lol

Ive seen this a few times on various fords, check the plug wires that go on the alt. somtimes they somehow wiggle themselves loose and mess with the internal regulator and trigger the light.

I have a 98 F-150, been that way for a while. Belt is good, all is tight, just cuts out at high rpm. If at night you can see all your lights go dim. I seldom wind mine up tight, so it really doesn't concern me.

lol...it worried me when it first started..i was on my way home to Toronto from Ottawa and I was flyin on the 401 once the 3 lanes started..I buried the needle and noticed a weird light...I thought i snapped the belt so I slowed down and once it got below 4500 are rpms it went off....needless to say I beat the hell out of my truck...and I see the batt light come on every day I drive...but I'm gettin used to it.....and I think it likes it...Funny most problems I hear about are with people who are too gentle with their vehicles....but maybe I'm just lucky I own a Ford!
