ok i know the firing order is 15486372 but how are the cylinders numbered?

back of engine
4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5

Is this correct?

Welcome to FTE! One of our requests is that you give us the relevant info so we can help. It would be easier to help you if we knew what make, what engine??

The numbering scheme you posted looks right for a flathead Ford V8, or for a Ford 302. The firing order is correct for a flattie.

As far as I know, all Fords are that way. You may want to check Earl's excellent site,

Yes that is correct. Also remember distributor gear turns counter clockwise.
