Auto locks no work.

Fellas
I have seached and searched, but all I can find is how to reactivate the locks. My question is my wifes locks will not activate. They did work then they would not lock when in gear, now will not work at all. I go through the steps and everything works, except for the last one. Where the locks are to lock and then unlock.
Is there any thing I can check?
Thanks Dave

First thing I would check is the module. The quickest way to test the module is to:
  1. sit in the driver's seat
  2. make sure all the doors are closed
  3. insert ignition key
  4. turn the key on - off - on - off - on - off - on - off - on (on 5 times without starting)
  5. after a second, the door locks should cycle (unlock then lock) - if not check the fuse,
if you have power to the light green/yellow wire then your probabilites are either no output from the module or defective relays. Check the self test first and get back to us with a year of the vehicle.

Its a 98XLT/5LT AWD 4 Dr. I have tryed the key cycle. What G/Y wire? They do lock with the keyless fob or with the 7/8-9/0 buttons. They just will not lock in gear, or when the doors are closed with a door locked.

Sorry, misunderstood your posting. Obviously, you have power to the control then. BTW - the G/Y wire was at the control which is located in the driver's side rear wheel housing (where the jack is kept), but that point is now moot.

It sounds to me like someone accidently turned off the autolock feature. Try this:

Deactivating/Activating autolock
Before following the activation or
deactivation procedures, make sure
that the anti-theft system is not
armed, ignition is off, and all
vehicle doors and liftgate window
are closed.
1. Enter five-digit entry code.
2. Press and hold 7/8 button.
3. Press and release 3/4 button
while holding 7/8 button.
4. Release 7/8 button.

It is right out of my 97 owner's manual under "keyless entry"
