A/C Clutch pulley installation?
I was attempting to replace the ac clutch today and ran into a problem.
The old pulley came off ok. the new one will not fit. yes i checked and the parts are the same size. i have tried everything, i was under the assumption that this can be done w/the compressor staying on the truck.
do i need to pull the compressor??? can i do that without evaporating the system?
Can i put some heat on the inner race of the sealed bearing???
I have spent to much time on this and now the truck is not drivable. I tried to buy the shorter serpbelt and bypass the compressor, but autozone does not stock this part and needs three days to get it.
thanks

pulley, yes u can
Vehicle type? From my limited experience doing pulleys on E series. Are you talking about the pressed on with a snap ring keeper? The pressed on ones are a bear if not absolutely straight. you may need to dismount the compressor(without craking the lines)to get access. Hope this helps and isn't too late. DO NOT heat the sealed bearing. no lube-siezes up-frys belt-in the middle of nowhere

sorry f150 4.6, yes it was the pully held by the clip. i had to take of the compressor. not too bad.
it was not on straight, the magnetor was not set all the way down, the platsic electrical connection was hanging up on the housing.
all is good it is fixed. do i need to get the air out of the system or can i just recharge it, yes i took the hoses off.
thanks for the reply.
