That's probably your warning to get the problem fixed.
I'm just guessing, never having owned a vehicle with a slushbox full time, but letting solenoids go to hell can't be good nor cheap to fix in the end...
Unhooking the battery is not helpful, either, since the computer has to relearn its shifting patterns, which is also not gentle on the tranny. Even the easy way (pulling the ECM fuse) does the same thing.
Ooops.
Anyway, the Haynes has several shift solenoid codes, among other tranny codes, but you didn't give us enough to narrow things down with.
