Can I run the van With all the wheels off the ground?
AWD 4.0 1996
Can I put jack stands under it and put it in drive and run it up a little?
I need to find a rattle. I was wondering because of all the awd stuff and the wheels may not spin at the same speed.
personally, my body crushes too easily and i hate intense pain and the sight of several quarts of my own blood gushing out
no running setting on 4 wobbly jack stands for me.
I read the manual it said you can't balance the tires by using the engine to spin them.you will ruin the awd. So that means no you can't spin the tires up on a lift.
Yes, but you won't get very far, and the gas mileage will be terrible.
Actually, with all wheels off the ground, there would be almost no load on the engine, so it will drive the wheels to high speeds with very low power. So the indicated mileage will be quite high, even though actual mileage will be zero.
i helped lift a Cadillac off a tow truck driver 30 years ago, rig slipped off sling while he was underneath disconnecting drive line.
he's still in a wheel chair and drives a cripple van with one arm
Come on 96 I'm a 50 year old ex nuclear weapons mechanic. Safety comes with the territory. I surely don't take chances. No blood please..When I was in the airforce back in '76 A guy in the auto shop where I worked after work told his young son to lower the rear window of his suv. Back then you did it with the key. The kid started the truck and pinned him to a welding cable all four tires spinning. Abunch of us ran in and pushed the truck forward with all the tires spinning still. We finnally got the key turned off. The guy was in bad shape.
Go ahead and torment that poor old Aerostar. Mine just did not like this experience at anything beyond idle. Lots of clunking and clanking as the AWD sensors, clutch solenoid and AWD controller are trying to figure what the heck is happening.
Thats just it. Its a mint condition 96. I don't want to hurt anything. As far as my 94 its toast. The right front tire on the inside is gone. What could that be? Maybe the frame bending from there being no frame from rust taking over..
