stolen radio face plate...

Howdy! Does anyone here know where I could buy a new face plate for a Emerson radio model# cd-2850? Some thoughtful individual kicked out my dash ... couldn't get the last bolt, so he just took the detachable face plate. Thanx in advance for any help. I've tried Ebay and the Emerson site to no avail.

Check with the dealer you purchased the unit from and hope the serial number is registered to you. The detachable face plate is considered a theft deterrent. It is coded to the main unit so you can not use another faceplate. To use the theft deterrent you have to take the faceplate in with you. It also helps to prevent someone tearing your dash apart. Most likely you are out of luck.

Cheapo radios usually aren't keyed to the head unit, but most manufacturers still don't sell the faceplates as a seperate part just to keep theives from procuring them.
