Barium Experience (Not a good one)

I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on anybody. I had to get an x-ray today, and I guess barium is something they use to highlight your insides so they are visible on the film. And it's not something you're supposed to eat, and hope it goes through. No. You can just imagine how they got it where they wanted it.

I just hope the x-rays turn out, because I'm not doing that again.

I send my condolences. Did we do a butt-dive?

It isn't fun, I had a colonoscopy last week and liken it to having a broomstick shoved up your butt. However, they give good drugs and I didn't feel a thing. Hope your results came out as good as mine. No cancer there, now they look elsewhere as my abdominal lymph glands are enlarged and after losing a kidney to cancer they are cautious. Best of health.

Yeah. The specialist said "lie on your left side, bend your knees. This might feel a little bit cold. Then I'm gonna pump a little air to relieve the pressure."

It wasn't cold at all. I was like "What the ..." How I managed to keep my language clean was a feat in itself. And the air didn't relieve anything. The only relief I got was when it was over.

Reminds me of that scene in Fletch...

[During a proctological exam]
Fletch: You ever do any time, Doc?
Dr. Joseph Dolan: Breathe easy.
Fletch: [singing] Moooon River...
Fletch: Using the whole fist, Doc?

Reminds me of that scene in "the right stuff", I know how they felt.

Been there done that, gonna have to kill next time. I thought they were thru with Barium.

My nurse had a sense of humor, "If you let it go, I'll have to start over".

The barium Malt is OK, kind of fun to watch.

yeah, there is. About a year ago I was being checked for acid reflux. You stand/lay in this xray thing and you get to drink a barium mixture while they watch it go down your throat and into your stomach. Then they tilt the table so you're head is down and watch to see if any of the contents of your stomach leaks back into your esophagous (sp?). There's a couple more things they do with the barium too, but all in it's not too bad. Tastes like drinking a chalky drink, kinda like Mallox I guess.

Wish you the best.
Years back I was going through some tests, drank one bottle at home went to the hospital had to force a second bottle down and on the walk to the CT oh no were sorry the CT is not working today you will have to reschedule. Is it still kind of like slime you have to bite it off and it don’t know to go down or up?

Can't wait for the "Star Trek" hand-held all purpose body scanner to be invented. Just a couple of back and forth passes of the hand-held, and Bones knew what was wrong. Did you notice when old captain Kirk had his yearly physical it was with his clothes on?

Been there. The scope is a breeze, the barium is a nightmare. When you get there and they tell you to take everything off, that includes your dignity, if you know what I mean..

Been there. really sucks. Endoscopy and colonoscopy are just as bad. That powdery stuff they give you to "flush" your system. ARGH!!! They told me to mix it with Crystal Light, "Helps the taste". BS Can not even stand the smell of Crystal light anymore.

Hehe, my dad had to go through that a couple weeks ago. Needless to say, I was out of the house ALL day that day.
