Oh Yeah, I drove it all last season to shows (Did pretty well) Believe it or not I went to 15 shows last year and won at 9 of them (Not bad for not being done). But yes, I am in Mad Thrash Mode trying to get alot done before the F100 Nats. Going to mount the pipes this weekend, Bed starts coming off next week, Goes to the Interior Shop next weekend, Then Lots and Lots of Block Sanding before I re-paint and Add Flames. If I dont run out of Time! Are you going to the SuperNats?

On my 54 Merc car I have lake pipes attached to the inner rocker panel. I didn't want the chrome wrap around brackets so I cut part of them off and welded a mounting tab to the back of the pipes. Didn't discolor the pipes and no mounting brackets show.

Thats kinda what we are going to do, We are going to make the tabs and weld them on, So the attach on the running board mounts. Cleaner look.

They look nice for sure. Will someone explain these things to me? What is the purpose or is it just for looks?

Side pipes (not lake pipes) used to have mufflers and were functional (like on old vettes). As far as I know these lake pipes do not have mufflers in them. I see them capped usually at car shows.

When they are capped, does the exhaust just exit through mufflers and tail pipes? When uncapped, they are illegal to run on the street?

I am showing my complete lack of knowledge here. I am completely confused.
